Local council in Melbourne have denied building approval for a 24-unit multi-residential development in the inner city, due to the lack of residential car parks provided.
The Nightingale development highlights the rapidly changing needs of our inner city areas. It also shows the difficulties faced by architects and developers when trying to achieve environmentally sustainable developments, that take advantage of public transport systems and improve community amenity.
As our cities’ needs begin to augment, we may also start to see the broadening of local planning authority requirements to better align with these trends.
